I'd like to propose a new "Mirror Row" function that would create a mirror of an existing row. The purpose would be to insert the same row in multiple boards, such that any changes to the row in one board would automatically populate to its clones in other boards.
How is this beneficial?
Boards are a convenient way to organize parallel projects, with each project being a row. Thus, you can view all your projects on one screen, rather than having to constantly switch between boards. However, there are often instances where a project overlaps between teams. For example, if you create a project to build a new website, that may be relevant to multiple teams. It would be convenient for each team to be able to view the website project on their own board, rather than having to switch to a separate board for that project. The mirror feature would accomplish this. The web development team would create the project as a row on the web development board. They would then mirror the row to other boards, such as the marketing board. Thus, the marketing team would be able to view the progress of the new website on the marketing board. Additionally, when creating a mirror, the creator would be able to specify permissions for the row in each mirror instance. Thus, the mirror on the marketing board might be read only, so the marketing team could view the board and post comments, but not make any changes to it.
I realize you can partially accomplish this using the synchronize function, but that's more for synchronizing individual tasks, not entire rows. The problem with synchronize is that if you add additional tasks under the synced task, those tasks don't sync back in either direction.
