Task timer visibility

Another thing that I find challenging is the task timer. I often will start a task and the timer and then get distracted or forgot to stop it and thus the timer no longer becomes relevant. I wonder if there is a way to pin the time to the toolbar or always have it visible on the screen or something. I think that would increase the value of the timer and also remind me to stay on task.
